The Threshold Project
Building the West End Extension

Calling All Angels!

"The Threshold Project will enable us to energise our mission and help us provide a place of hospitality in Summertown for all ages and needs."

Ann Stedman & Sarah Scheele, Churchwardens

Come inside, you are invited to
cross the threshold and be a part
of the vision of our church.

How Much Money Do We Need to Raise?

The total cost of the project is £660,000. On top of this we have to pay £130,000 VAT – most of which we hope to recover.

The church has already committed £190,000 to the Threshold Project, representing over 25% of the total cost. We plan on raising the shortfall by appealing to the church membership, the local community – individuals and groups, local businesses, trusts and grant-making bodies.

We anticipate raising £180,000 through individual giving. This will be achieved through events, the sale of merchandise, giving on-line ( or through donations, on a monthly or one-off basis. This is where the church and local community can help.

Our Commitment to the Wider World

Reaching the Unreached

The church at St Michael & All Angels has agreed to raise finances to support a capital project in India which has something in common with our own Threshold Project.

We are committing 5% of donations to the UK charity, Reaching the Unreached (RTU). This organisation supports work amongst orphaned children and poor villagers in a small area north-west of Madurai, in India's southernmost state of Tamil Nadu.

The project is to build family houses to accommodate children within the RTU family care system.

Donors are able to opt-out of this scheme. However, we would like to recognize our own privilege by investing in the needs of the developing world. We would welcome your support as we aspire to be a generous, outward-looking community.

It costs approximately £750 to build a life-changing new family house in a village.

"We make our commitment to donors that any money raised through this campaign will be ring-fenced and only used to build the Threshold Project — apart from the onward percentage donation to the building of a capital project in India.

The appeal begins in June 2015 and we hope to raise the money in 12 months with the builders moving in before the Autumn of 2016."
