The Threshold Project
Building the West End Extension

The Parish Story

Artist Impression of new interior

In 1909, the new church building for Summertown was completed but not as originally planned. A temporary west wall was erected in brick when the funds ran out.

Over 100 years later we want to realise the original vision by completing the building for the community.

In June 2014, the church undertook a community engagement survey called, 'At the Heart of It'.

The Threshold Project is a response to the needs of the local community portrayed in the survey.

Lying at the heart of Summertown, geographically situated between Cutteslowe and Waterways, St Michael's acts as a conduit between people and places offering facilities for workshops, seminars and groups to share.

The new facilities will offer hospitality in the form of a kitchen, an office, toilets and essential storage space.
