The purpose of these talks is to attract members of the local community into the church by providing a forum for people to interact,
share experiences, learn and debate in a Christian framework.
They are part of St Michael’s outreach to the local community in Summertown and Cutteslowe
under the leadership of the Reverend Gavin Knight in the hope of building an inclusive community,
seeking to make a difference to the world that the church is rooted in.
This model has been described as a 'threshold ministry' - inviting the wider community
to enter into the sacred space of the building and encouraging people to serve in the community beyond the church walls.
Previous Community Talks have involved politicians, writers, broadcasters and local experts in the field of diplomacy,
health and business, including Jonathan Aitken, Peter Hitchens, Nicola Blackwood and Prof. John Wyatt.
