The Church is CLOSED until further notice

[24 March 2020] Following the Prime Minister's announcement yesterday evening, all churches are to close until further notice. This means that we will not be able to light candles, say prayers or even broadcast the Sunday Eucharist.

We ask you to pray for God's blessing upon this season of the church's life, that we will resume the normal pattern of daily life stronger in faith, more active in discipleship and more joyful in our relationships. Please pray for the Parish of Summertown, its church St Michael's, and for those who live and work in this place. Please also pray for God's enterprising Spirit to enlighten all of us with ways to live more prayerfully and authentically as disciples of Christ.

COVID-19 UPDATE

Health advice for our parishioners — Advice from Public Health England

Public Health England recommends that you should take usual infection prevention precautions including:

  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. Use an alcohol-based hand sanitiser that contains at least 60% alcohol if soap and water are not available. This is particularly important after taking public transport.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.
  • If you feel unwell, stay at home, do not attend work or school.
  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in a bin.
  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces in the home and work environment.

Welcome to St Michael & All Angels'

Values

The Church of St Michael & All Angels serves the Parish of Summertown and Cutteslowe through the integration of these theological values:
Creativity – God creates humanity from his own image. We are creative beings and our creativity forms the purpose of our lives of faith.
View of the Lady Chapel
Community – God is community. The story of God and his people encourages us to build relationships in communities of trust.
Calling – God calls his whole creation to a life of wonder and exploration. We understand that God offers us fulfilment through the service of others.
