St Michael's is an Eco Church

Land

In late January some of the team took part in the annual RSPB Birdwatch. This involved watching for one hour to count the birds seen in one location - in our case this was the Church garden. The following made an appearance:

  • 3 Robins
  • 3 Blackbirds
  • 1 Blue tit
  • 1 Coal tit
  • 1 Dunnock
  • 10 Wood pigeons
  • 14 Starlings
  • 2 Magpie

After much hard and loving work the church garden is beginning to flourish and become a welcoming and contemplative place.

The garden is once again a popular place for local workers to have lunch.

Well done all who have worked so hard to achieve this wonderful garden - a developing space for plants and wildlife to thrive and where people can relax and contemplate while engaging with nature.

Several trees have been planted.

Lavender has been planted around the new Narthex building.

The east side of the church is cleared awaiting planting.
Garden Logpile
A log pile will be sited to encourage wildlife and a Bug hotel to be constructed - here we see the materials.

 

Garden Waterbutt
A water butt will be positioned here.
Garden Memorial
The Memorial garden will get a facelift.

Silent and Morning Prayer times to change

From the start of 2019, the times of the daily Silent and Morning Prayers will be brought forward by 30 minutes to 8:30 and 9:00 am respectively.
